Sound Baths
Sound healing is a spiritual gift I’ve carried since birth. As a Black queer woman, it feels like my birthright and my responsibility. For years I offered these spaces, but I eventually stepped back. I needed time to sit with how the practice had been taken from Black and Indigenous traditions, softened, and often centered on bodies and comfort that weren’t ours. That pause was necessary. It gave me space to return to the root and remember how our people have always used sound as medicine, as prayer, as a way to call ancestors and hold one another through grief and celebration.
Today I approach sound healing from a decolonized perspective, holding space first and foremost for Black and Indigenous people especially those who look like me. This is our shit. The sessions are slower, more relational, and rooted in reciprocity. I guide participants through a traditional sound bath using crystal singing bowls and meditative guidance, but the intention is deeply different. The way I wield these instruments as a Black queer woman honors the lineage of my enslaved ancestors on American soil turning vibration into a living act of remembrance, protection, and collective care rather than escape or performance.
If this way of gathering feels right for you and your people, I’m available to bring sound to your events. Whether it’s an intimate circle, a harvest ritual, a community altar activation, or any other communal form, these spaces are made for us. Reach out when you’re ready to have that space held.
